Hermanus offers quiet, protected coves for the avid beach bather as well as long, deserted beaches for that lazy afternoon stroll.

Grotto Beach:
Grotto Beach, a blue flag beach, literally stretches for kilometres, making it ideal for those wanting to take long walks and enjoy the sheer splender of the coastline. A restaurant, playpark and facilities make this a top-spot amongst holiday makers.

Voëlklip:
This neat beach is often the playground of young adults. Great lawns, white sand and good facilities complement the beauty of this setting. This is also a good spot for surfers who can always be found in the breakers.

Langbaai:
Langbaai (Long Bay) is a favourite beach for those seeking a bit of peace and privacy. Formed between two rocky outcrops this beach is tiny in comparison to the other beaches. It offers good swimming and snow-white sand.

Kammabaai:
The ideal beach for families with small children. Parking can be found near the beach. Plenty of white sand and shallow water makes this a favourite beach among young kids.

   Southern Right Whales

   Enjoy a stroll along the romantic Hermanus cliff path and hold your breath    as a mother whale and her new-born calf come within metres of the rocky    shoreline. Here you will discover why Hermanus offers the best land-based    whale watching in the world!

   Or sit on the beach and watch the whales frolic in Walker Bay just beyond    the breakers. The Southern Right whales visit our shores from May -    December each year with the largest numbers in Walker Bay during    September.

   Enjoy the Humpback and Bryde's whales all year round as well as    dolphins, penguins, seals and a large variety of marine life.
